Charlie Taylor, the Government's Expert Adviser on Behaviour, was asked by the Secretary of State for Education to conduct a review of school attendance. This publication presents its findings and makes recommendations for improving the attendance of truant children. At Ian Mikardo High School, Tower Hamlets, the students have severe and complex social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD) and offers an alternative and successful learning environment
Many have been excluded from other schools and are regarded as unteachable when they join Ian Mikardo. The new purpose-built school gives them a safe haven. This BCSE and HLM will hold a Twilight 'Chatham House Rule' discussion at our offices on 29th May from 6pm to 8pm.
