Decent School Standard Report Launch
Last Tuesday the BCSE held a seminar to discuss the need for a Decent School Standard in light of changing regulations and an absence of guidance. The first stage of this has been to collect research about the learning environment. The BCSE Research Report 'Moving Towards a Decent School Standard: A review of the evidence' has been developed by drawing on the extensive work of the BCSE, their members, academics and other leaders in the field of learning environments. To access this report please see our programme page here.
As well as creating a powerful tool for advocacy the BCSE wants to develop a model which schools and teachers can relate to that explains the link between the environment, people and educational outcomes based upon all the evidence we have gathered. By demonstrating the impact of the environment we hope the Decent School Standard will allow teachers to make the most of their learning spaces, be that in a new or existing school.
