The Decent School Standard
The aim of the Decent School Standard is to help schools make the right decisions about the design and use of their environment. It is not about providing schools with definitive answers, we do not believe that one size fits all. However, there are lessons to be learnt about the impact of the environment so schools can understand the implication of any decisions taken. Using the Decent School Standard should allow you to become an informed client, able to participate effectively within the design process and understand your learning environment and the impact that it can have upon educational outcomes.
We are asking for your thoughts, research, evidence to help us to continue to build this body of knowledge. Anyone can get involved. To let us know your thoughts or for further information please email email@example.com

BCSE Decent School Standard Report Launch Event
An event on 17th April 2012 launched our report about the Decent School Standard. Below is the agenda for the day and a few of the presentations.
19th & 20th July 2012, Cotswold Conference Centre
As standards continue to be reduced the BCSE has been leading the industry to create a Decent School Standard to fill this gap. After a period of gathering evidence and support from the government and wider educational landscape are asking members to help us to begin to develop the documents and toolkits we will need to move this forward. These tools will be tested in the autumn with a number of different schools including the PSBP. We will be holding a two day residential in the stunning Cotswolds.
As this is an unsponsored project we are asking members to donate their time and to cover their cost. If you would like to join us for one of the days the cost of room hire and meals is £60. If you are able to join us for the two days the cost will be £350. This includes room hire, overnight stay and meals. For more information please contact Suzanne and for more details about our venue please see here.
The format for a DSS Steering Group will be discussed and agreed during our two day residential. The group will be open to everyone and will aim to have cross sector representation. Further details to follow.
