MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM ALL AT BCSE
In lieu of Christmas cards this year we have made a donation to a charity on behalf of our members to the charity PEAS. This will be used to buy timber, cement and bricks for their 6 new schools opening in Uganda and Zambia in the new year. Here is some more information about it:
"Three in four Ugandan children, and over half of Zambian children are not able to continue their education beyond primary school because of a lack of secondary school places and high fees.
PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools) uses an innovative SmartAid model to develop sustainable secondary schools that permanently widen access to secondary education for children in Africa. We build schools in the areas most in need and run them as part of the PEAS network, supporting them with education inspections and termly audits to become financially sustainable within one to two years. We aim to launch 100 schools by 2017, which will provide school places for 100,000 children. Over a twenty year period, these schools could provide over 450,000 children with a secondary education.
We need support to achieve this goal and help us give the gift of a sustainable education to thousands of children. Whether you would like to join us at our annual sponsored walk for schools Bridges to Africa, you are an organisation that would like to partner with us, or you are simply an interested individual who would like to donate and help us towards our goal, please visit our website, email us at info@peas.org.uk or call us on 020 3117 2497."
