The James Review is published!

The wait is over, The Review of Capital Education headed by Sebastian James has now been published.

Commenting on the publication of the James review, Ty Goddard, director of the British Council for School Environments (BCSE) said:

"The James review has been long awaited and we hope it will help us deal with the national challenge of developing a school estate which is fit for purpose and meets the needs of our teachers and pupils.

There's much to be welcomed in the review's recommendations. A simplification of the rules, regulations and processes will help everyone.

We hope the recommendations lay the groundwork for a formal decent schools standard, which was a key element of our submission to the review.

Within the context of reduced budgets for schools capital this report points to a way forward - now there is some consensus, it's time for action and we look forward to the secretary of state's response."

There will be a BCSE Members only briefing on Tuesday 12th April 2011 6pm central London.
