Shortlist for the BCSE Industry Awards announced

BCSE awards short list highlights best of UK school design and construction

The British Council for School Environments has announced the short list for its 2009 awards for best practice in the design and construction of schools.

This year the quality of submissions was extremely high with 170 entries across the 13 categories.  The judges have chosen 20 projects, individuals and teams as winners across the categories, which will be announced at the awards event in June.  In particular the ‘Inspiring Design for Schools’ category delivered a range of fantastic projects and 6 awards will be made to recognise the very best examples of school design in the UK.

Ian Fordham, deputy chief executive of the BCSE, said:

“The entries this year are a welcome opportunity to celebrate great work by architects, suppliers, construction firms, local authorities, teachers and pupils, despite these challenging times.”

“There was – rightly - robust debate amongst the judging panel.  The result is a short list which can act as a gold standard reference point for anybody involved in the school design and construction process.”
